Physical and Chemical Properties:

Zinc is a greenish-white, bright, antimagnetic metal that is slightly less dense than iron, with a density:7.14 g/cm³. It has a hexagonal crystal structure, and zinc has an intermediate electrical conductivity. It has a relatively low melting point (420 °C) and boiling point (900 °C) among all metals. With the exception of mercury and cadmium, it has the lowest melting point of all the transition metals.

1. Used as analytical reagent, such as as a reducing agent for the determination of arsenic, copper, nitrate and so on.

2. With acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, alkali, water (including ammonium chloride), etc. used as a reducing agent. Zinc powder distillation. Reformatsky reaction. Benzaldehyde from the system of phenyl carbene, etc.

3. Used as catalyst, reducing agent, used in organic synthesis, also used in electroplating zinc and the preparation of non-ferrous metal alloys.

4. Used as target material, sputtering target, alloy, indelible position in modern industry for the manufacture of batteries (battery surface is zinc skin). Used in galvanizing industry, automobile manufacturing and machinery industry, making batteries, suitable for making materials of instrument parts and instrument shells and coins.
